What are the EMG Coordinator National Awards?
The objective of the Extension Master Gardener Coordinator National Awards is to identify, reward, and
promote Extension Master Gardener coordinators who demonstrate excellence in the following
categories (click category name below for more detailed information and application):
- Distinguished EMG Coordinator
- Distinguished Early Career
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Creative Excellence
What is Required for the Application?
Complete a nomination package which includes:
- Online (Qualtrics) application with the following attachments:
- 500 to 800 word narrative addressing the criteria listed below pertaining to the specific
award. - Maximum 250 word summary of the application which will be used on the website to
announce the award winners. - A professional photo (headshot) to be used for the awards introduction. This will also
be posted on the website following the award presentation. - Two letters of support from a supervisor, colleague, peer, or volunteer describing the
nominee’s contributions and accomplishments.

Application Qualifications
- All nominees must be a current EMG coordinator in the year they are nominated.
- If applicable, awardees will be asked to submit activity, project, or program for the EMG
resource site within 30 days of award. - Incomplete applications will not be judged; the chair of the awards program will determine if an
application is incomplete. - Distinguished Early Career and Distinguished Coordinator Awards will be conferred once per
individual. - Distinguished Early Career nominees must have worked less than 10 years in an EMG
coordinator position. - Distinguished Career nominees must have worked 10 or more years in and EMG coordinator
position. - DEI and Creative Award recipients are encouraged to submit a poster for display at the EMG
National Coordinator’s Conference. - Completed nomination package and required attachments must be transmitted electronically.
Additional Information
- Each award is given biennially, and the honoree(s) will be announced at the EMG National
Coordinator’s Conference and the International MG Conference. Award winners will also be
recognized on the EMG national website and EMG social media channels. - Award nominees are encouraged to attend the EMG National Coordinator’s Conference.
- It is best to have all materials ready to submit prior to completing the online application. An
application in progress can be saved and resumed prior to submission.
